NFL QB's Forever Linked. But Is It Fair?

Compare Fair

It’s a polarizing topic, yet it’s in every football fan’s mind. Who’s better: Luck or RGIII??? #1 and 2 in the draft

NFL QB’s Forever Linked. But Is It Fair?

respectively. #2 and 1 in Heisman voting, respectively. 2 players, star crossed it seems, on a collision course with fate. And history. And truly, it’s a great story- because the comparison is fair. They play the same position at the same age at a very high level. Take your pick, it doesn’t matter. Same scenario happened a few years back In the NBA. Deron Williams or Chris Paul? Drafted close to each other, stellar at their position. Elite players on everybody’s list. Take your pick, you won’t be wrong. Its apples to apples.

On the other hand, some people just love to compare apples to oranges. No matter how disrespectful you feel this is, going by the numbers, you CAN- no, you SHOULD compare Kobe Bryant to Michael Jordan. It’s apples to apples. Joe Johnson to Kobe, however, is apples to oranges. One is an All Star, fantastic player. The other is a Superstar, an all time great, a living legend. They play the same position and both play it extremely well, but they’re not comparable.

To make comparisons in the first place you need to have a thorough knowledge of the subject. Know your stats. Have the facts available. Google for goodness sake! But please, don’t attempt to tell me why Matt Cassel winning with the Patriots receivers makes him equal to Tom Brady or how since the Colts won 11 games this year, Andrew Luck is better than Peyton Manning. If you make statements like these, you’ll surely sound like an idiot, but more than that, it’ll be obvious that you don’t compare fair. Nobody like’s a biased, opinionated person who speaks out of turn. Take this advice, use it, and continue in the never ending quest for fresh.
